Farkle development including the front crud

I just screwed a couple of large hooks into the roof joists and hang the panniers from their handles.

But then I'm skint :D

Sorry. I'm on the phone.

Yo Miff - funnily enough thats what I suggested in the first place but it was frowned upon by fellow tossers obviously more wealthy than you and I :D

Good to see ya - hope you are well.

yes and thank you for your very valuable contribution :bow you have a very valid point however such is the weight on the two upper brackets that quite a substantial plate IMHO had to be incorporated to spread the load over as many fastening points as possible. With this said I will try to take some more material out of the design however sometimes the cost of expensive laser profiling can exceed the cost of the additional material.

Nonetheless, excellent observation and I remain thankful for the time you have taken to offer it :thumb

My pleasure. Taking the simple approach further wouldn't a strip of powder coated Aluminium folded back on itself along the long side to form a sort of "V" or "U"with multiple anchor points along one side serve a similar purpose? You could run it along the length of the wall then hang as many panniers on it as the length of Aluminium would allow.

Quite possibly however there is still the matter of a push off bracket. And you might be surprised how much weight is located on such a small area to where the pannier hooks fit into - any such bracket could not simply be a folded back on itself affair - it would have to be quite thick and if we would look at supporting Tig welded braces then the price would shoot up quite a bit - a substantially thick angled extrusion might do it then there are the maching costs etc. I`m certainly not one to disregard very good ideas but I can see significant for`s and against`s!

once again, a great idea - one I never thought of!

Thanks.

Yes please Mark, a set for me :thumby:

Thank you, lets see how my set look first eh - lets discuss it if necessary and if you still feel that they may be of benefit then of course one of the eight pairs made will be yours.

Seemingly I can dictate the colour of the paint at no extra cost...........

My pair are going to be matt black so see what you think eh?

Crud Catcher, Radiator Covers and Rear Rack ordered....please Don't come up with any more good ideas :thumb

I am happy with black, but having seen Giles' air intake covers I am thinking I ought to get some, but obviously they would need to match the rad guards!

:D

Pal, yes I could make them from stainless steel, Tig weld them and hand finish them so that we could use `underpants & porridge factory explosion` in the same sentance but to be honest i really don`t think it`s necessary.

On the bike, yes fek it, the more it costs (within reason of course:rob) and the better it looks then yeah I`m all for it but as for a pannier frame to fit on the garage wall then I think I will better serve my very loyal customers by producing something to a budget.

I meant the air intake guards to match the rad guards.

Happy to have the pannier frames in black.

Hope that is a bit clearer! ;)

Photo`s

Here are the images of mine, guys. There`s a left and a right, each suited to fit the panniers correctly (the exhaust side needs a bigger `push off` if you see what I mean............).

The image of the frame without the pannier fitted is the frame for the exhaust side pannier and the image with the frame with the pannier fitted is, and I bet you can guess.................. is for the pannier without the exhaust cut out!

There`s only 8 frames available (1 left and 1 right) and I`ll do half in black and half in red.

Mark, Please set a pair aside for me please.

Anyway engine bars...

Fair enough I appreciate that I am technically inept, have sausage fingers and am rather accident prone.

This means I tend to read instructions and do things in the exact order it says.

So this is what I have ended up doing this afternoon:

Looks good eh?

Well, unfortunately I managed to do this:

<a href="http://s1125.photobucket.com/user/martincollins1907/media/DSC01413.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l600/martincollins1907/DSC01413.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSC01413.jpg"/></a>

Which is a shame as I then find that I do not have the right bit to remove the BMW bolts anyway, too big for my little tool set.

As you can see I have already strapped my TE exhaust on to the back (I could do with a rack!) and I will be delivering it to CYMARC engineering around 10am tomorrow.

Bloody nice bars though, really pleased with them, although I think they might be better when they are fitted properly..(I have got them right way up at least, I think...)

You are very `special`

Pal, knowing that this will be taken in the right way I must say you are very `special` :D

Accident prone you say? Concerning bearing in mind you have seen fit to share your profession with me - as I said `special` :D

Don`t ever forget, and this applies to any other goodly person, I`m always available to help fit stuff - I`m privileged to have 2 manufacturing bases, significant engineering resources, an awesome toolkit I had to sell a kidney for and half decent egg sandwiches :D.

See you tmoz and we will put it right eh?

Funny man...............

And I`m looking forward to seeing and hearing the new `zorst.

Nice job Mark :thumb2

......glad to see its not just me that likes to paint their garage walls! :augie
