Help , help , help................!!!!! Due to the wet weather we are having , and the fact i have to leave my bike at work in these wet times certain faseners are starting to rust. I need to source front brake disc bolts, which quite frankley look worse than anything i have seen on a bike, and the fasteners that hold the black cover on the front of the engine ( ignorant i know but i cant think of its correct name, but you know what i mean!!)Also the bolts on the cylinder head covers.
Do you need to use specific parts, or are there alternatives to standard. I am aware that there are stainless alternatives but are they up to the job??????

Gotta stay on top of the "beast" or it will look like a right shed at this rate. All the other fasteners on my 1200gs seem to be doing ok.

ideas gents n ladies???

Stainless steel disc bolts are available from motorworks.

Any correct sized stainless socket cap screws will do the job on the front cover. Not aware of a stainless option for the cylinder head covers, Just sray them with a little hammerite smooth :thumb

Cheers mr Flip, ask the question n get a decent reply:thumb

No worries. There is a great little place in Manchester that does loads of stainless socket cap screws. I picked up some bits from there (+ a really cheap pro multimeter for £10!!!! Supposedly used, but it was like brand new).

Just pop in and take a sample of what size you're after and they wil probably have it in stainless :thumb

p.s It's a bit of a b'stard to find, but it's not too far from the old pink cinema/bingo place on the Chester road. Down a bit of a back ally, but they stock loads of engineering stuff, nots bolts, cleaners etc etc.
