After hearing how good the Ixus 430 was according to most people on the site , I bought one last year.
The warranty is nearly up and it has packed up.
It is showing E 18 and E14, which are error codes. It's on its way back toCanon.
Anyone had problems similar with their Canons?
11 months old and I would have hoped for better.
TIA
Dave

Thanks Ian, there seems to be a forum for most things on this interweb thing.I didn't think to ask Jeeves, just the GSers!
Could get a new one , eh? fingers crossed.
Cheers Dave

I bought the new Ixus 700 recently and got the dreaded E18 just 2 days later. Th camera had to be replaced. I was in the US at the time and I'm very happy that it happened while still there, otherwise I would probably have had to buy another camera as I dont think Canon waranty spans across the pond.

E14

I am reliable informed that code E14 is a shutter assembly fault, put together with a E18 i am informed that these ussually happen, when it has been dropped, hence not covered by warranty, hope this is not the case with yours

User induced damage is very expensive. My Canon Ixus (orginal model) cost £280 to repair when I got sand into the lens mechanism. Luckily I had all-risks cover on my household insurance and they paid up.

Cheers again Ian, Mrs F was in charge of the camera when it went wonky. She is adamant it wasn't her fault!.
fingers crossed,
Dave
