Faulty instrument cluster

Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of advice if anyone can help please. I'm the new owner of a 2013 F700GS with a faulty instrument cluster. Is it possible to replace the cluster with a used known good unit, or are they coded to each bike?
Or is anyone aware of a company that could strip mine down and diagnose/repair? I've read that a capacitor on the PCB is a common failing. Thanks

A replacement cluster will need coding to the KOMBI / CAN-Kombi-K7 . It will have the VIN & mileage data from the donor bike stored

Is there a specific fault on the cluster? On mine the clock and other things like average mpg failed to store when the bike was switched off.
This was indeed the capacitor issue. I stripped it down and gave the pc board to atv repair shop who diagnosed the faults and changed two capacitors and charged me £20.

The symptoms are the cluster works perfectly for approximately 5 miles into a ride, then the LCD goes completely blank, speedo stops working but the rev counter still works. Turn the bike off and start it again and the whole display comes back on. Set off and it can go blank again immediately, or within a few minutes

Sounds like there may be a connection issue. Just pulling it to bits and reassembling may help. Do you know if the bike stood for any length of time?

Yes it'd stood for about 4 months (December to March), outside. It looked like it hadn't been touched since the guy parked it up. And if I'm honest I don't think it even had a cover on it.
