I recently had a new FD fitted to my '11 plate GSA after having the original 13K miler damaged in an accident.
After having covered about 600 miles with the new FD and with an impending trip to Alpe D'Huez booked I decided to swap out the FD oil for new stuff (Castrol Syntrax 75w-90) to see how it was wearing. The oil that came out was pretty stinky and grey but I half expected that. What I noticed however was a piece of rubber protruding from the joint where the FD pivots on the swing arm (as illustrated in the pictures). Having never removed the FD from the swinging arm before I'm not sure how it all goes together but I'm pretty sure that the rubbery protrudance should be inside the joint not peeping out of it.
Does anybody know if this is as easy to fix as it seems to be? Or are there any things that I need to be aware of before I jump right in? Thanks.
