FD taper roller bearing shim wear

I bought a 33/11 r1100gs final drive off ebay to try the lower gearing, I've pulled it apart to have a look and it's in remarkably good condition. But there is a bit of wear on the shim under the taper roller bearing, it looks like it has been rotating , it is slightly worn and it has worn the number off on the bearing race. Should I be concerned about this, or just buy a fractionally thicker shim and stick it back together, its a trial to see wether I get on with the lower gearing for my 1150 so I don't want to spend much before seeing if it works, assuming it does I'll renew the bearings and seals.
