Feels like new following throttle cable replacement

The more observant of you might recall my fairly disasterous attempt to analyse the cause of a very stiff throttle, and the following useless attempts to lubricate the lower cables.

Realising I a) was inept and b) should get the dealer to do it under warranty anyway, I had Vines sort it along with the 18k service (£204 inc VAT by the way). They replaced all the cables under warranty.

It now feels like a new (or even better than new) bike. It seems much faster and more effortless to ride. It's amazing how a heavy throttle really spoils things.

No idea why the cables stiffened up - maybe too much gentle stroking of the throttle rather than whacking it open?

Velly interesting -

for the last couple of rides the throttle has been quite stiff & on occasion I have been able to take my right hand off the grip without any decrease in forward propulsion - ie the throttle sticks

Not really a problem when you know about it - and anyway I usually 'close' the throttle when slowing down rather than just releasing it

Besides its great as 'cruise control'

Had vowed earlier today to get it checked sooner rather than later

I'd get that fixed pronto.

Note that there is only one throttle cable from the grip so, unlike some bikes the throttle is not positively shut if you close the grip.

As a result, there is a likelihood that you can dislodge the main throttle cable or the two cables coming out of the distributor box and possibly jam the throttle open or lose the sync between the two cylinders.I did this while messing about in the garage.

I agree, it sounds like a recipe for disaster, its a cheap fix anyway!
