Hi

Iam trying to book the plymouth Santander ferry for the 5th Sep, but unfortunately they have no more motorbike spaces.

Believe it or not, I can book my car on ok, but not a motorbike, as they only allow 100 motorbikes!!!! How frustrating is that?

Has anybody just arrived at the ferry without a booking and got on ok, or is that very risky? I used to do that many years ago without problem, but you know what progress is like! lol

Iam reasonably stuck with the dates, needing to be in Santander for the 6th for the plans to work (give or take a day) and I dont think riding down from Calais, etc is an option because of the time it would take.

any pointers appreciated - thanks

Thanks for the suggestion Glyno - I did try that and they are booked too.

Also thought I found a way around it with a new Nantes to Gijon crossing, but no availability either

Phone the ferry company operator and ask if they can request an "extra bike space" this works on our local ferry company so might be worth a try.

I don't know why but the "extra" bit is important. Hope it works with them as well

Probably showing my ignorance here, but why is everything so booked up on the 5th September? School Hols are over, aren't they?

Anyway, this sounds like outrageous discrimination against bikers!

Must be against our 'uman roights. I can see some COM-PEN-SAY-SHUN coming via "Shysters4U.co.uk"

:D:D:D:D:D

book a car space, i dont think it costs much more. a friend of mine is driving to his place in spain and his fare is very similar to mine !!!!!!!

The new LD lines ferry St Nazaire - Dijon starts as from September, I see there is nothing available before the 8th - this may be their start date.

We've been waiting for this ferry to start for ages as we've been wanting to book for the return trip from Spain to Brittany later in September. It was finally launched very recently - their launch offers are sooooooo cheap. For our two bikes, the two of us and an outside 4 berth cabin, it was the grand sum of £56 (cheaper than a cabin on Brittany ferries!). They seem to be including the cabin free, so if you do book, change the seat to a cabin and check the price.

Good luck - hope you find a way to get there in time.

have you tried the 3rd Sep Portmouth?santander one? there were bike spaces there a week ago...

Portsmouth to St Malo overnight then a quick blast down during the day via Rennes Bordeaux... do it most years always in Spain by tea time.... about 500 miles ....... easy

Brittany Ferries

The only advice I can give you is Dont use Brittany Ferries,
Just been to france for a week and they said that there was a Technical Problem with the boat going there and back so we had to change Ferries and port of departure.
Is there any body who can give me advice on trying to get some sort of compensation out of them.
