first rider on scene

N
Thanks Fireman see you on the 20th do we need to bring some funds?
no funds required mate, tea and coffee provided. If you really want to you could always drop a quid or two in to the air ambulance box next time you see one.
i am always left with the thought that if one of my mates has an off then i am there to do my best for them so the more people that have the skills the better, see you on the 20 th, tell your missus she wont be the only girl there. One of the other guys is bringing his missus too

Reminder

Just letting you know the first rider on scene is this sunday at 13.00hrs at mossley fire station OL5 0LN
See you there:thumb

Fireman, if you're interested in that sort of thing then another route is to do a Remote Areas First Aid course. Even though I'm ambulance crew I still keep a valid Remote Areas ticket because without my truck full of fancy kit I'm buggered as well.

Fair play to you for the initiative to do what you're doing tho; if the first person on scene has a vague idea of what to do then it can mean the difference between living and pushing up the daisies for someone.

I know where your coming from on that one david. They are ment to be making our qualifications nationally reconised, they have us working in the resus at our local A+E and we spend time in theater with the anithatists (however you spell it) but when you have very limited gear on your bike you need to know the very basics, i will be teaching scene management, helmet removal and the Ac,b,c,d along with airway management etc, nice and simple but could turn out to be a life saver. i have tried to get my mate down in the rapid responce car but he has his hands tied at work.

Did a course like this at Ashford FS a few weeks ago. Very informative, well worth doing. Hope I never need it but now have the confidence to use what I learned.

The one thing that came out of it that I had never really thought of, was to check if a pillion had been ejected into the undergrowth, or up a tree.

can you PM your email or phone no?

Hi firesorter,
you cant pm me as i let my subscription lapse, if you need to contact me my emal is [email protected]
Kent seem to be going places with their biker down scheme , lets hope others follow, the thing is we are always being asked to do things within the community so lets do it for free, this way we will get more intrest, i would always recomend people do at least a basic first aid the only thing different is that ours is trauma based and not the first aid at work stuff.

Just to let you know Paul sorry but i can't come to the FBOS tomorrow i've trapped a nerve in my back and one of my ribb's has popped out "an old injury"

If you hold another one can you count me in for that one please.

Hope it goes well for ya.

Wozza

Just a quick "Thank you" Paul for all your efforts today presenting first bike on scene, I learned a whole lot, and found it very worthwhile. :beerjug: Regards, Peter.

Thanks

Well done Paul, hope I never need to use the knowledge, so far, so good.
Sorry to have left you with the washing up.

A note for others - I suggest the security mesh below for making sure your tent and sleeping bag do not get knicked while you park up in a city in the open.

Worked well for me in some dodgy places !

Hope to see you guys again sometime.

first rider on scene - thanks

Paul,
I'd just like to thank you for organising and presenting the " First rider on Scene " talk. Though I have attended First Aid courses through work, I found that your informal, motorcyclist focussed, no exam-type presentation allowed me to learn more and what I learned was of greater benefit. I am sure that I would be better equipped if involved in any such incident.
I would encourage anyone to attend such a course.
Many thanks Andy - TEAM ROBO

Hi Robo, thanks for your comments mate, i am going to try and do a course a few times a year if work will let me advance on what i am already doing, i have a few more ideas to make it more interactive. Even if people just remember one or two things then its worth the effort.
safe riding mate, lets enjoy this sunshine:thumb2
