I have completed 600 miles and am going to send the steed in for its first service. Anyone know roughly how much it will cost at a main dealer / would it be worth doing it myself?

,they'll give it back to me over the next 2 years though one way or another
,then its new bike time and i'll be f**ked if its a BMW,and no only do it yourself if you want to void your warranty£150 sucks, only new bike i've ever had to pay for and the count is 14 from 2000,if they had made it clear i'de have got it included in the price

Don`t do it yourself as you will probably void the warranty as already stated.
Doing the servicing yourself or getting it done at an independent does not void the warranty. You do have to use oe parts though and at the correct schedule. We have european law to thank for that.
My first service was parts only, labour free. Came to £40.
It invalidated the warranty on my BMW and my jap bike, oh and if i don't keep my used approved 11** serviced by BMW then the years warranty will not be valid if i had a breakdown.
I suspect it would be pretty damn hard to get BMW to replace any parts under a good will gesture after the warranty period if the bike had been serviced by an independant garage.

FSS, don`t know why you are bitching when you could have ASKED about service costs when you bought the bike. If you are going to buy something else because you had to pay for a service, you`ll never be pleased. Easy to blame others when you`ve fecked up. Grow up will you?.
Anyway SJPB1982, ring the dealer and get a quote. It should be £150 max I would have thought. Don`t do it yourself as you will probably void the warranty as already stated.

.
A warranty on a new bike cannot be voided by having it serviced at a non-franchised dealer or by servicing it yourself as long as oe parts are used and the recommended schedules kept.
So how much do you think will be saved by having an independent do the 1st service work. They don't work for free, and they wouldn't have any costs for servicing the bike built into the purchase price as they didn't sell you the bike.
And then try finding a dealer who'd be willing to take on any warranty work for a bike that they haven't serviced or that hadn't been in the dealer network for it's first service.
The independent isn't going to do any warranty work if needed.
If someone brought their bike to me for a 1st service i'd send them to a BMW dealer. I don't need the headache from the owner if something goes wrong and a warrenty claim is needed.
EEc rules mean diddly squat in the real world, and BMW have a bigger diddly than an owner if it's needed.
