I used to live near where a lot of his stuff was done so have a personal if not a professional interest in these old planes.
I loved that RR Heritage book because unlike most of it's "friends" there was a lot of information about how the projects were managed. Also some stuff about Stewart Tresilian, probably the most talented engine designer of his day. He wanted RR to build smaller engines running at double the revs. More power from less weight. Sadly, the corporates were too wedded to big and slow. Then along came the jets so piston engines got sidelined.
