I am in the process of converting my dipped headlight to HID.

Everything looking good until I try to insert the new H1 HID 55w bulb into the aperture.

To my surprise the glass part of the bulb will not fit in, it is too big for the hole.
The only solution I can see is to file the hole out a bit!!!!
Is this a common problem?
I have checked with the supplier and Ive got the right kit and he's sold thousands and not had this problem.

Any help greatly appreciated

Yes. Becareful with the bulbs they are fragile! I didn't have to file my opening however some other people have had to.

I had the same problem but with the headbeam.

I used a diamond needle file. I put the handle end into the lamp and held the cutting end only filing outwards so that there was no debris inside the lamp assembly.

I had to "adjust" my bulb housing, too. Took about 30secs with a dremel & the original bulb will still go back if necessary...

Worth fiddling around before grinding away too much. I started trying to file away the metal and then found by approaching at a slightly different angle the bulb just slid in.

Thanks fella's...

Obviously a common problem.

I shall let the supplier know Im not the only one and the solution:thumb2

Many thanks

Any chance you could give me a link to the bulb used and the supplier? I'm keen to change lightbulbs at the earliest opportunity.

Thanks
