I received this txt from Bill (Fanum) a few moments ago:-

"cueta partially evacuated and flodded todra gorge washed out with massive floods and still pi**ing down there"

Anyone going in the next few days, don't forget to pack your rubber duck

I'd like to see some pictures of the Todra gorge in flood. It seemed impossible to believe when we were there how so much devastation could have been caused.

Thank's for the nod. A group of us are off to Morocco on Sunday. Does anyone know of a website that gives weather forecasts for Morocco?

Tim..the floods were two days ago.- we've had a report from our man in the gorge and the water was well up last week but the landslip above the hotel on the corner has closed it off completely- apparently they couldn't get a donkey over it to get some guests out of the hotel.

As and when I can get more and if I can find another wifi spot I'll send stuff back but this was caused more by the landslip that the water level which aparently wasn't as high as the Oct 2006 flood.

65 People have been evacuated from Cueta though and we've advised all of our customers meeting us for this trip to use Tangiers- I spoke to MarkN and Roy (Bluesweeper) yesterday and they all know what's going on.

Looks like it'll be an interesting trip!!

Coo, what fun. But need piccies...

Ceuta, Spain - Rainstorms wreaked havoc Monday in Spain's north African enclave of Ceuta, forcing the closure of schools, disrupting maritime traffic and damaging the border fence separating the autonomous city from surrounding Morocco, officials said. Police patrols were increased on the border to prevent the entry of undocumented immigrants, who have long used Ceuta as a gateway to Europe, climbing over the 8-kilometre-long fence topped by barbed wire.

Floodwater inundated buildings, forcing the evacuation of three families, as well as a market and a morgue which were closed. Ferry traffic between Ceuta and Algeciras on the Spanish mainland was suspended already on Sunday. Flooding was reported also in Melilla, the other Spanish enclave further to the east, where a river carried tons of garbage to the beach.

Floods !

Just got back from Morocco...Great trip

But if you are going in the not too distant future and want to see the Todra Gorge it suffered massive damage with the road being washed away and covered in landslides

Me checking out if it's rideable :augie
