Following the Dakar 2009

Hi Orla, are you getting any vibe around the bivi about who everyone feels about all the shortened stages etc? Looks like they've cancelled tomorrows stage completely so I guess that means no marathon stage?

I know they've got to keep it safe, but it must be hard on the guys and girls in the race not knowing what they are going to be doing from day to day

Hi Orla,

Great reporting. Thanks for taking the time & trouble.
Any updates on Si Pavey..........he's not reported finishing stage 10 ??
Hope he made it !

Biketrucks earlier trip in the year to follow a piece of the Dakar route in Morocco to the southern borders...

You either need to upload them from your PC, which isn't good for BHTs server :comfort or upload them to Photobucket, Smugmug, etc & then link to them. Details are here. HTH.

Hi Orla,

Eurosport say he's still in the race. Apparently had to ride 200km on a puncture

...the fella with the frog on the head - he was an interloper. Sneaked in under cover of darkness. I hear he's part of the underworld (or underwear - not sure really)... either way, apparently he smuggled a magic carpet back on the GS) along with a settee, a couch, a clock, a sink, a small bed, a family tent, a cooking stove for five, a living room...) - I reckon he may need a good lawyer...

Spoke to Si's camp tonite (11.41pm UK) and all is well. Moose dead, wheel not happy, but still in...
Alls well that ends well - come on Mr Pavey...
Sad news looks like (but not confirmed) that Ewan Buchan may be out after another engine issue... But hey, c'est Dakar est c'est Dakar... u just never know...

Where is Orla............ hope they are OK.

I'm sure they're grand... In fact, knowing this pair they've probably convinced some high rollers they're related to the O'Higgins (Similar sirname and location) and are currently holed up in some 5 star palace waiting to meet el Presidente:aidan

Hi Orla and Eoin
Hope your silence is due to lack of access to internet of just enjoying yourselves too much.

Have really enjoyed the reports so much and miss them. Sorry for the pressure!!!!!!!

Geraldine

Hi Orla and Eoin........... so the Dakar is over,........ and we all enjoyed your reporting. Most of us are very jealous and in awe..... but both of you still have to make the trip home.......... so keep up posting..... and save home. We are looking forward to seeing both of you in Kildare. Love and best wishes Brian and Geraldine

Seems Daithi got a text from them last night & they're great but they're in the middle of nowhere & have no interweb. I imagine they'll be back in BA tonight or tomorrow & we'll hear something then :D
