FOR ALL EES STUFF, QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, MOANS, JOYS AND ANYTHING ELSE

She’s not coming on that trip …..

I agree. For the UK government to hand over control of this aspect of the border to private sector was and still is a mistake, in my opinion. Exit checks have never been a very big part of the governments plans and I think there is not much doubt that entry checks are way more important. They're not mutually exclusive; just difficult to do both within the resources successive governments have made available.

Sporadic exit checks seem to produce lots of casework. Whether the crime detected merits an increase in resources becomes a political decision. I suspect a part of the decision making process is the practicality of exit checks within existing port infrastructures and the potential delays to passengers and freight.
Certainly the Europeans seem to take it very seriously - Frankfurt a couple of weeks ago took 30 sec to get in, including fingerprints and photo, and an hour to leave.

Certainly the Europeans seem to take it very seriously…..and an hour to leave.

That matches my regular experience, departing Arlanda, Stockholm. But hey, it was quicker than the 90 minutes of queueing behind the masses, just arrived on a wide bodied Air China flight.

On departing, I now go straight to the exit border check, simply as you have to regularly queue for an hour to get past the departure EES check. Hey-ho, at least they care about who is leaving, wear a smart uniform and are usually most courteous. Tea huts, take note.

What I don’t understand, is why we can’t use the e-gates. Euro people and, I believe, even Americans, can use the egates coming into Britain.

At some airports, I think CDG, Brits can use the egates and then just go to a booth where an immigration person stamps the passport without having to read it from from cover to cover.

It’s a dastardly French plot. Everything is…. I read it here.

Very probably we (UK plc) won’t be using EU channels again in our lifetimes. We just have to accept that we are no better than Chinese peasants or villagers from the Central African Republic, so we queue alongside or behind them. That they are often a stranger to the soap dish and frequently hoik up God only knows what, is just a bonus. It’s a reminder of the country’s and the nation’s diminished state.

Remember too - it's what we voted for and wanted. (y)

To cast ourselves adrift from the Brussels Borg and Strasbourg Death Star.

Trouble is we've ended up in the Sargasso Sea. :D:D:D

Clearly the stunt to pull is to check a piece of luggage into the hold. You can all but guarantee the aircraft won’t go without you. The airlines will soon be hacked off having to find a case or two in an aeroplane’s hold and remove it, because the passenger(s) are still queuing to pass through the EES check.

But whoa, there are no queues…. I read it here.

Michael O Leary will be all over this like a hobo on hot chips.

People in authority who make sensible noises will get this sorted.

Don't think it really matters, it is what it is and changes day to day.I'm a2ay at the end of April and it's pretty pointless asking what things are like.I'll take in me stride,be prepared for delays and anything else is a plus.Stiff upper lip and all that jazz.

If it’s a mechanical, loading, unloading, weather or some other question, you’ll find out on the day.

If it’s an EES question you are asking, again you’ll find out on the day.

Some bods get lost, just leaving the terminal.
