NOOOOoooooooooo......be forced to abstain from bacon.
Certainly the Europeans seem to take it very seriously - Frankfurt a couple of weeks ago took 30 sec to get in, including fingerprints and photo, and an hour to leave.I agree. For the UK government to hand over control of this aspect of the border to private sector was and still is a mistake, in my opinion. Exit checks have never been a very big part of the governments plans and I think there is not much doubt that entry checks are way more important. They're not mutually exclusive; just difficult to do both within the resources successive governments have made available.
Sporadic exit checks seem to produce lots of casework. Whether the crime detected merits an increase in resources becomes a political decision. I suspect a part of the decision making process is the practicality of exit checks within existing port infrastructures and the potential delays to passengers and freight.

What I don’t understand, is why we can’t use the e-gates. Euro people and, I believe, even Americans, can use the egates coming into Britain. That matches my regular experience, departing Arlanda, Stockholm. But hey, it was quicker than the 90 minutes of queueing behind the masses, just arrived on a wide bodied Air China flight.
On departing, I now go straight to the exit border check, simply as you have to regularly queue for an hour to get past the departure EES check. Hey-ho, at least they care about who is leaving, wear a smart uniform and are usually most courteous. Tea huts, take note.

It’s a dastardly French plot. Everything is…. I read it here.
Very probably we (UK plc) won’t be using EU channels again in our lifetimes. We just have to accept that we are no better than Chinese peasants or villagers from the Central African Republic, so we queue alongside or behind them. That they are often a stranger to the soap dish and frequently hoik up God only knows what, is just a bonus. It’s a reminder of the country’s and the nation’s diminished state.

Trouble is we've ended up in the Sargasso Sea.
is this what has killed most of the eels and elvers?

Don't think it really matters, it is what it is and changes day to day.I'm a2ay at the end of April and it's pretty pointless asking what things are like.I'll take in me stride,be prepared for delays and anything else is a plus.Stiff upper lip and all that jazz.Going to Santander end of April
Has anyone been recently and had delays and hassel
Cheers
