Dear all UkGSers,

I would like to share a problem I'm facing with my 1100 GS 1998. I recently posted my experience from changing the top yoke stanchion bushes, and ended up with the conclusion that is "corners like a charm". Well, that was the first impression and it is no longer: the bike still demonstrates considerable inaccuracy while cornering, not quite like the mess it was before changing the stanchion bushes, but still very annoying.
By holding the handlebars and moving the wheel sideways, there is enough flex, which seems to be coming from the stanchion moving inside the lower fork leg. This thing seems to have a bronze bush and some plastic ones (called "pipes"), but the manuals (factory for 1100 gs and clymer's) say that they come as replacements for every model except from the 1100 GS! Also, the usual UK e-stores don't seem to sell the pipes, only the bush.
The questions are:
-has anyone else faced this flex-issue?
-does anyone know if one can replace the bronze bush and the plastic pipes of the 1100 GS, and, if so, where to get them??

Thank you, oh great source of wisdom!

Thanks in advance guys,
best regards,
Thanasis

Realoem doesn't list the bush but it does show 4 'pipes' each side. Part No. 31422311985. Available from any dealer. Can't help with your particular symptoms though.

Dear Dick hello,

Real OEM does list the bush, it is under 'Telelever-single parts', number 31422311986.
It seems that European stores don't list the pipes (motorworks has the bush), so I'll either get if from the US or try the local dealer...
