forum bike sales question?

If i offer a cash amount to a fellow gser member for his bike that is forsale on this forum and he accepts the amount , arranges a collection point and a time for collection and then 24 hrs before i go to collect the bike he texts me and asks for another £500 or the deals off he will sell to someone else.
Do i have an come back on this as it is in writting ?
Or do i just have to accept that not everyone on this forum is playing fairly?

That's certainly not what this forum is about and is defintely not in true GSer style. That's sad to hear.

If it's as cut and dry as your post suggests, I'd name and shame the fecker and he should be publicly flogged on here. The FSW section isn't an auction FFS

Looks like you got gazumped George.

I try to trust the people I deal with on this forum, but obviously there are those who are not honourable.

Personally I would "Name and Shame" so others can be aware.

A sad fact. The more members we get the more opportunists there will be. I hate to hear stories like this...

I supose it is a contract that you and the other have even though not in writing
If it were me I would get in touch with the guy again and inform hom so

I would also put his name up for show - if it is as clear as you alledge
So others may waste his time sometime
Or ask him for a good share in the extra proffit he is making at your expence
to soften your inconvenience and hate of him
If you have altered owt yerself - well thats your end let down = tough poo

Sellers always have to make the decision on how much to ask and once the deal is done its done as far as I'm concerned.

Got a confession, was cleaning it last night and discovered that the tax disc holder has been snapped off. This in its self isn't a problem. I've applied to DVLA for a replacement tax disc. Had to send them the V5 to enable this. It should be here next week fingers crossed. I still have the reciept for the original if stopped by the police.

P.s. i was supposed to be collecting the bike tommorow night

i sold my bike for less than i wanted so as not to keep this guy waiting so i have lost out on money from the sale of my own hayabusa and now i no-longer have a bike to buy.

The FS&W here operates on trust and of each person acting in an honourable and gentlemanly fashion as they would no doubt like to be treated themselves.

I think you're going to have to name and shame George as at the moment there are hundreds of folk scanning the for sale boards wondering which one is the rogue.
I also think you should tell said person you are going to name them so they can have a chance at defending their honour.
If it were me I wouldn't be interested in said machine anyway now, even if the seller backed down and reduced the price back to the agreed figure.

AFAIK you don't need it in writing to be a contract. But a gentlemans word should be his bond.

If it's as you described, name and shame, if the other party doesn't agree, then they can respond.

At the end of the day i never forced him to accept my offer!

This sounds rather dodgy to me. I would never buy a vehicle without seeing the V5 and the bill of sale from the previous owner/dealer.

That and the tax disc so I'm afraid it wouldn't be on my shortlist of bikes to buy.
But we mustn't jump to conclusions here and maybe it will all end happily ever after.
