Isn't that a splitter to take a feed from the auxiliary socket to say a relay to switch other power sources - if it is then the wire ends that are wrapped in tape would be the feed to the relay with the connectors design to go inline in the current feed to the auxiliary socket.

If you detach the connector on the back of the auxiliary power socket (that is mounted in the bottom of the tray under the seat) are the connectors the same as those on that lead you found?

It looks very much like an old piece of marine plywood used as a stable base on which to rest things on that you want to drill through without knackering your drill bit. Do I win a prize ?
