what colour is the frame on my bike?
black
grey black
there does not seem to be any paint codes for it. can anybody help?

Try Phil Hawksley the BMW boxer man, he is based in Leicester and has his own website which covers most model colours, but he may know of the frame colour. Alternatively, take the bike to your local bodyshop and they should be able to match the colour and tell you where it is listed and as what colour.

Any old satin black paint aerosol should do the job if it's just the actual tubular frame you want to sort out.

That's interesting, mine is two-tone. It is mostly a reddy brown colour, especally in the corners, but some areas are black. :aidan

Standard paint is Satin black (still a bit of a shine, but not gloss). If yours is 'super shinee' then somebody repainted it incorrectly :blast

My 1150GSA is gloss black. Main frame and rear clip. And it has its original paint.

No it isn't. If it's original then it is satin black. The difference is subtle between satin and gloss, but it's satin, not matt, not gloss, but satin (if it's original that is). They were all the same, no difference at all from the factory, every 1150 had satin black rear subframe paint. Some have been re powder coated and the owners may have had then gloss blacked, but this is not the original colour.

Looks like we have different apprciations of what is gloss or satin. My bike is 220,000km and all original. And certainly has a nice shine to it. Being a 2006 SE, the tank is satin though. ;-)

Satin black or Gloss?

No, being an SE makes no difference, it's a matt finish on the tank, much like the matt finish on the silver :blast

The black ADV was the only one to have a gloss finish tank. All the standard GS had gloss paint finishes on the tank, beak and rear light cowl.

I have tried satin black and it is not a match, the frame is almost dark grey/black.
