Check the drive shaft.....can you feel vibration through the right foot peg ? My sealed for life shaft went at 39k miles

Found some wheel movement on mine after the weekend rideout it was top and bottom only very slight but felt it in the corners had a friend rock wheel for me to further check turned out to be final drive pivot bearing/s :eek

Fairly stright forward job :-

1 st attempt at home part stripped backend final drive pivot started to undo then stopped solid neather tightern or slackern off:blast

2nd attempt short trip back to work, heat , air impact wrench with 36" strong bar and torx bit 2 hours later still no movement:blast

3rd attempt ordered and picked up new bearings, collars and bolt etc etc for said pivot asby, borrowed a cobolt drill bit set from work drilled threads out from r/h side, final drive removed new bearings fitted within 30 mins :thumb

no vibration just free play

i have checked sideways up and down but no play.

only when i rotate there is free play.

checked the splines on the driveshaft final drive side and they are looking like knifes so very much damaged.

i believe will be the driveshaft to be changed.

any ideas on a price for this??

how much will be a new one??

Regards,

New shaft from Motorworks is around £375, but they also do an exchange shaft for about half that price if yours is servicable,( new uj's) ....................................mine wasn't !

Also check the swing arm bearings. If one is shot it will produce the clunk you describe as you come on and off the power
