Front wheel bearing replacement

Will just make the wheel spindle go in a bit further I guess.

the 'datum' side is from the speedo drive.

I notice on my R1100RT that the double ball race (3205) is thicker than the sliding spacer leaving a small gap between it and the larger spacer.

This suggests that the bearings will be pre-loaded when the spindle is tightened.

Probably ok for the double bearing but not the single.(6204)

Cant find any mention of this on internet but doubt if anyone else would notice or come across it

I can confrim that a special tool is needed. A special hammer.

you also require a special punch which is matched to the special hammer

Mine are sorted now, went to LINDS BMW and negotiated, both bearings and seal replaced for £88. Not many bikes being brought in for service in this weather. Thanks Linds, nice job? And no need for a hammer!!!
