fuel economy

This includes the basic balancing of the Throttle Bodies (TB's) and also checking the mV of the TPS I also cleaned out my TB's which are fairly simple set ups which helped. There are guides on the forum and if you feel mechanically OK and fancy this basic servicing then have a search. If you can't find I will forward some links.

Some links would be great - serach won't work on tps - as 3 characters is too bl**dy short! :blast

Bring it down to devon and I'll help you service it...all the oils and valves... we can set the tps to the magic 0.371 as well!:beerjug:

CO pot adjusts mixture at tickover. Screw in to weaken and out to richen. Small adjustments only. To do it properly you need an exhaust gas analyser, though personally I don't bother; I just adjust to either weaken or richen as needed.

By the way, neither of my UK spec 1100/850 oilheads has ever had a ccp (cat code plug) fitted. It is my understanding that only bikes with a cats (and a lambda sensor) had a code plug fitted.

Invest in a Clymer the best there is.

Thanks guys. I'll invest in a clymer, then when the days are longer and warmer, I'll take a ride down to Devon to take Canuck up on his kind offer! Whereabouts are you in Devon?

Finally got around to servicing it. What a difference!

I set the tps first' then decided it was too wet to do the valves.

Took it for a ride to warm it up and I thought I'd bought a new bike!

Changed oils (except FD - that next weekend as I ran out of gear oil - oops!) and its running like a dream :-)
