Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but.....
after filling up a week or so ago I noticed the smell of petrol - had a look around and noticed the petrol cap was raised by a small amount at the front - not open but it clicked again when I pressed it down. Had the MOT today and noticed the same thing - I hadn't opened the flap and don't know of any MOT test that requires it to be opened.

Anybody had a similar problem?

Yes - I get the same issue on my K1200RS. You have to make sure it is really pressed down after filling or you get petrol fumes until you realise.

Haven't had it on my GSA, but that is a 2009 whereas the RS is a 2005.

Same type of filler lid though....

Could it be operator error as opposed to a faulty cap?

Happened to me at least 3 times, a couple of times it was probably me but the third time it did it on its own...

Must have been the wiggling around while riding on a rocky track...

:augie

... or more likely London pot-holes!!!

:D
