Hi, My fuel level sensor went kaput ,for no reason, about 2 weeks ago. The bike is an 09 R1200Gs Se which hasn,t been serviced at an authorised dealer. The bike isnt quite 2 years old and has covered 14k. I rang Roy Pidcocks and they replaced the faulty sensor under warranty.They are really hepfull guys and top service from them. I just hope this part lasts longer because its exactly the same as the one thats been replaced.

I had my 2010 GSA in to have the fuel sensor looked at today and they said they couldn't find a fault with it.
Guess it's normal for the fuel level and range display to be as reliable as a sundial at night

Hi......I think Imay have joined the clan of faulty fuel level sensors! I have just filled up my 2008 GS1200 and although the guage shows full on the bars the range computer is only resetting itself very slowly it is going up about 5 miles per minute as I ride. It was only 4 miles to home so has now only reached a range of 67 miles.......it may rectify itself when I go out on it again (fingers crossed!). Iam puzzled as I would have thought that if the strip was faulty it would also affect the bars on the guage? Has anyone else experienced this?

I think its pretty common
Mine does that occasionally - most times just jumps to around 200 miles, but sometimes does the slow count-up (around 1 in 25 fill-ups)
It may be more common when I fill it to the very top.

Thanks for that......fingers crossed. I will find out on Friday as I am riding up to Scotland.....if not it will be the old trip meter method!!

Loads on this particular problem on our very own site here, just search 
. BMW regularly replace loads of these by the sounds of it, but are still to come up with an improved part.
