Any of you Irish guys/gals live near the border?

What's your 'rule of thumb' on fuel prices? Buy in the north in quids, or buy in the south in euros?

TIA......:)

Prices are pretty much the same at the moment so there's not that much cross border fuel traffic, unless you are running a fleet of trucks taking 1000 litre (or more) fills which does work out cheaper. :)

Petrol in the south averages around €1.50 per litre which is roughly £1.31 in sterling. In the north the average is around £1.36 per litre. That's only a difference of £1 to fill a 20 litre tank so it's really not worth the hassle to ride south to fill up.

I tend not to watch the prices too much - I've a company diesel card for the jeep :D and, let's face it, a few cent more per litre ain't gonna stop me taking out the bike now is it :blast - but over the weekend I did notice that nobody is selling petrol for less than €1.50. The cheapest was 151.9 cent & the dearest was 155.9 cent :eek

The card used to cover petrol as well but the dog chewed it recently & I had to get a new card.
Imagine my shock after putting €50 in the bike to be told 'this is a diesel only card Sir' :blast
(thankfully I had my confirmation money with me !)

oil prices dropped last week.

garage price for diesel SHOULD be around 1.37 euro but todate none of them have yet dropped price to match the lower rate even though most have had tanks filled up since the fall
