Fuel Pump Controller saga - GOOD NEWS!

"Good Work Tim !!!"

Like reported earlier in the FPC claim thread,my bike was towed like 400 miles and the FPC replaced at the Dealer all at "No Charge" to me back in Feb of this year.

Good job by Tim - bad job by BMW who tend to be dishonest about this and other faults in their products.

Most excellent work Tim:clap
Now thats done, lets go on with clutch seals, final drive, ABS and corrosion:augie

Totally agree with all the positive comments on here, however I may be wrong but there are Hundreds of people out there with Final Drive problems. I wonder if you might be able to get BMwobble you to finally admit there's a problem and get off their asses and do something about it. By the way if you want my help I live just down the road from BM's offices at Bracknell.( A brick through the window with a petition on it, perhaps!!!!!) Is it true that the person responsible for quality control on motorcycles has now been moved to cars, thus the shitty build quality/control some of us(and me) are having. Dont get me wrong, if my bike ever gets sorted so that everything is fine on it, then Id have to say its a bloody good bike.

FPC Recall aka "technical campain"

Hi

I got a letter from BMW yesterday about replacing the FPC.My bike is a 07 with warrenty expired last week -:)
Maybe BMW finaly sorted out the common faults. Mine has never failed because of either ringantenna or fuelpump.

Mine was changed under a recall last year...no fuss. They had identified all the possible FPC's which may have failed and changed them.

get it done Fredirik as long as there is no charge:thumb

Don't know why they bother.......the campain is normally carried out at the roadside!!

I guess we all hope that version 15 of the FPC is better than version 14. My first one went pop in '04, my last one went last year - BMW have hardly had a commitment to sort this have they?

Personally, I won't worry my arse about it, just carry the necessary equipment when out of range of help.

All together now....."oh no they didn't!". Mine's one of the first 1200's and I've not heard a whisper, this after two FPC failures. I am in Turkey, mind, where dealers might well have claimed to carry out the work, and claimed revenues for it, but kept quiet with the owners.

My 07 one was changed about 6 weeks ago when it went while overtaking a car:eek: BMW Assist came out and changed it at the roadside:thumb. So I think it can effect any age bike:nenau

That may be true, but I still think that BMW will only replace the FPC's on bikes built between certain dates, and by the looks of it they will be '07 machines. If you have a bike built in any other year and the FPC fails then tough. Even though there are a great number of reported cases of failure on bikes built across the years BMW will limit their outlay.

Now call me Mr Cynical, but how long is the standard manufacturers warranty? This recall happens at the end of 2009 and they recall bikes from 2007. Makes me wonder if this all came to light in 2010 would the bikes from 2008 be recalled and the 07's ignored?

I may be totally wrong with this, in a way I hope I am. But cynicism often gets mistaken for realism.

Recall...

Just read it on the news from a Greek website.

BMW Greece has issued a recall for all GS/GSA between August 2006 and January 2008, regarding the fuel pump controller. They say that there is a danger of water ingress in the unit...

Have we had something similar here yet?
