Fuel Pump Controller saga - GOOD NEWS!

I had the pump relay replaced on my O8 GS after it failed when it was only 2 or 3 months old. I've got a late 08 GSA now. I THINK it's got the new module fitted. I am led to believe that the new modules are black, the old ones grey. Can anyone confirm this?
Think I'll drop Williams a line just to make sure I've got the non-leaky one.

Yes, the new ones are indeed black.

Got the letter formy Nov07 GSA and it'll get fitted during it's service on Friday I presume. Still gotno faith that this version will be any better than the original one that failed on my first GS FIVE years ago.............

I carry a spare in my pannier. They're dead easy to fit and it's peace of mind. Shouldn't have to of course :(

The letter says the mailing list is sourced via the "registration" details held at Swansea - sorry can't remember the exact wording - so you should get a letter if applicable.

You got it fitted? Please dont tell me you paid someone to replace it :tears

My apologies, I have just re read your post and realised that I completely misunderstood what you meant.

I intended fitting it myself but was advised to let them fit it as then there would be no argument if the unit failed again, as it being fitted incorrectly by myself.

Yes I was slightly sceptical but if I understood him correctly there is also a 2yr warranty as opposed to 1yr.

To be honest it was a nice day and I just wanted to get the hell out of there.

Consider the sarcasm comment withdrawn. :blast

I dont have access to a scanner at the moment but if you are the registered owner the letter says the BumW are working with VOSA to locate the owners. You can also go to your nearest dealer and get your bike registered with them.

FPC Product Enhancement

I too have just had the 'product enhancement' letter, mine was built in July '06 and registered in Dec. '06 (never hiccuped)

The dealer has offered to refund the spare FPC I carry but the new one has to be be fitted by the dealer as it must be sealed with a wax spray (instead of the ACF50 that mine is covered in!) but I'm keeping it (just in case!)

FPC Replacement, sorry, enhancement!

The replacement ones are fitted by the dealer as they must seal them with a wax spray............

The recall appears to start from at least bikes built in July '06 and onwards.............

My december '07 bike is going in for it's 50000km/30000miles maintenance next week, and is having it's FPC replaced FOC. So the recalls have reached Belgium too.

Fuel Pump controller

I read about the Greeks having the recall so I called my local dealer and whilst they were surprised I knew about it, I am having it replaced on my 2007 GS next week. Seems like the UK is now getting it sorted.

I was beginning to think I'd been missed off the list :tears but my letter arrived this morning. 56 plate with original FPC already replaced once.

Tim

Yea,
My letter arrived this morning so even Northern Ireland is on Wendy Chinery's mailing list:aidan

(It's not a recall......it's a Quality Enhancement):augie

Tim, Thanks for all your hard work, without your persistance I'm sure we would'nt have got this far.

Take care and thanks again:clap
