During last weeks Welsh Rally my fuel pump controller packed up( 1200GSA 08) I managed to eliminate the problem having cut the blue plug off and using wire from my mini compressor get it mobile again to finish the rally.
I have a new controller with new gasket to fit this w/e. To try and eliminate future problems in this area does anyone have some tips on fitting? i.e. grease the gasket? use bathroom sealer? I'm sure you get the idea.

So any great tips to offer?
Thanks
Steve

Silicone sealer can be a bad idea with rubber gaskets. It's greasy so can cause gaskets to ooze out of place.

I ran out of petrol yesterday - fuel strip broken and the miles trip randomly resets to total miles. I know - should have checked.
But the tank was dry so at least the fuel pump and controller seem to be ok. :-)

Thank you all for your tips etc. I fitted a new controller today with no problems.
The faulty one taken off on the Welsh Rally was indeed one of the black finned controllers.
It would appear that BMW haven't sorted it yet:D
Thanks once again
Steve
