I've had my 1994 K1100RS for 17 years or so and I'm therefore well in tune with the fact that the fuel pump is a little on the noisy side. Sometimes instead of flying bricks they should be renamed as K-whiners! However, over the past year mine's been getting noisier and louder, so much so that I can hear its whine even when riding and listening to some music. This is with a full tank of fuel which usually deadens the noise. So, I'm going to replace the pump just in case of a failure just when I don't want it, and I pulled the pump this weekend.

Firstly, in a moment of weakness I have bid on a used item on Ebay - one that someone bought as a spare from Motorworks. However, I'm now thinking of replacing with a new one simply becasue I don't know the history of the old one which may fail quickly itself. I'm commited to buying it unless someone bids over £35 so I would keep it as a spare. So my first question is - whats the best way to store a used fuel pump? I'm thinking of making sure its dry and keeping it that way but wondered if anyone thought differently. Spray it with WD40/ACF50 on the inside?

Secondly, a new one from Motobin's is £134 ish, one from Motorworks is £175 ish and one from James Sherlock is £225 ish. They all show the same OEM part number so I'm unsure of why the difference. Anyone know?

Finally, anyone happen to have a brand new, unused fuel pump for the later K series bikes they don't want?- I need the 43mm version with the ridge on the pump about an inch from the top as that fits the rubber vibration damper collar. The OEM pump is from VDO which I think is Siemans.
