They checked the fuel pump housing and pronounced it outside the campaign parameters to change the pump which would have solved my leakage problem at BMW's expense. There are 3 options:- a fully flanged boss, a fully flanged boss with a flat and a boss with no flange. The latter two could be changed under the campaign, the former couldn't/wouldn't. Mine was the former and manufactured by Siemens VDO for interests sake. The replacement is made by Continental.
bit confused with your post - yours is outside campaign parameters - and your words inferring timeline
going by the picture to help these three make sense
1) is the new pump from I guess late 2015
2) was the early 2014 fix they scrapped by 2020 as doesn't work long term - only fit upgraded part, scrapping repair flange modified pumps
3) is why they had the problem - pipe flex damages the union and it eventually leaks
to not meet campaign - either
a) you already had 1)
b) the dealer is reading old info, or if electronically they find it says no - then your market is not up to speed with the ROW pump replacement as the ONLY real safe fix
