Fuel Pump Recall GS1200 Triple Black

They checked the fuel pump housing and pronounced it outside the campaign parameters to change the pump which would have solved my leakage problem at BMW's expense. There are 3 options:- a fully flanged boss, a fully flanged boss with a flat and a boss with no flange. The latter two could be changed under the campaign, the former couldn't/wouldn't. Mine was the former and manufactured by Siemens VDO for interests sake. The replacement is made by Continental.

bit confused with your post - yours is outside campaign parameters - and your words inferring timeline

going by the picture to help these three make sense

1) is the new pump from I guess late 2015
2) was the early 2014 fix they scrapped by 2020 as doesn't work long term - only fit upgraded part, scrapping repair flange modified pumps
3) is why they had the problem - pipe flex damages the union and it eventually leaks

to not meet campaign - either

a) you already had 1)
b) the dealer is reading old info, or if electronically they find it says no - then your market is not up to speed with the ROW pump replacement as the ONLY real safe fix

Botus,
So glad you posted this. Seems the dealer has not fulfilled the campaign promises. I have the pump and lo and behold it has a flat on the retaining ring! I feel a letter to BMW coming on....!
Either the Tech wasn't looking at the pump properly or didn't read/understand the campaign directive sufficiently. Thank God I had the presence of mind to ask for the removed part.
Most grateful.

so we have a situation where they are still on the April 2014 fix is acceptable for certain models - when the ROW in Oct 2020 said no its dangerous, forget it, fit a new pump on all of them

they should be going by an electronic record of where we are - so the specific market is behind the times and or pulling a fast one. UK just turned down a leaking K1300 - go on here
and see if you can raise an issue with who is responsible for allowing safe roadworthy vehicles to sit beside your loved ones in traffic jams

Reporting a Vehicle Recall to the DVLA
To report a serious safety defect that may lead to a vehicle recall, you should follow these steps:

Steps to Report a Safety Defect

  1. Use the Official Form: Access the safety defect reporting form available on the GOV.UK website.
  2. Provide Details: Fill in the necessary information about the vehicle, including the make, model, and specific issues observed.
  3. Submit the Form: Send the completed form to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
as you had the work done by a main dealer - if a recall update is in place - you should get your money back
