hello,

my fuel warning light has stopped warning me when i am getting low.

it lights up when i turn on the ignition so its not the light itself - it must be the sensor

any help would be good

i did a search but didn't have time to look properly

cheers,

Andy

You might find the sensor inside the fuel tank :pullface

Seriously, the lamp coming on when you turn the ignition on confirms that the bulb is working. It suggests a fault either either with the sensor or the wiring between the sensor and the clocks.

Have you got a wiring diagram? I expect the sensor works on the principal that a switch closes when the fuel level drops completing the circuit. A fractured wire or poor connection at a plug would then prevent the lamp from lighting. If you can identify the correct wires you could test the sensor at the connector without removing it from the tank- use a multimeter to check for continuity when the fuel level is definitely low.

Good luck. If you get really stuck let me know and I will see if I can give you a hand with it.

Connector

Lift the seat and the top of the tank is exposed with the connector plug. There is only 1. Just disconnect and check out the wires with a multi meter.

the connector you guys are talking about. is it the one the also powers the fuel pump? just the one sitting straight up in the fuel tank, 4 pins.

which pin(s) are the warning light/fuel level sensor?

thanks!
