10/40 Semi Synth will be fine![]()

this is my first opportunity to jump in on an oil thread, very exciting.
This is my first bike with a wet clutch--how important is it to use moto-specific motor oil?
It is better to use bike specific oil as most car oils contain friction modifiers which can cause wet clutches to slip...I prefer to play safe and use bike specific.
Thanks much for your response, but I should have been more specific: I anticipate being in places (Siberia, Mongolia) where I will not be able to find bike-specific oil, so I have to choose between putting in whatever I can find, or bringing it with me. I have thus far assumed that I will put in whatever I can find but am not sure what damage, if any, this could cause to the wet clutch?
If you need to change, don't want to carry and can't get bike oil I would go for 10/40 diesel oil if you can get it.
