Garmin 2610 - HELP needed

As regards to your charging the unit;it has no internal battery. You need a hardwire:)
Get a RAM and a solid cradle but not torx-screwable Garmin cradle.

P.S.YOU DON'T NEED AN ARM AS IT WOULD BE TOO HIGH AND PRONE TO VIBRATION.

Thanks Venturer for ALL this info, it`s going to take me a while to go through it, but I`ll be in touch mate. Stay safe & thanks again...:thumb

If you have fitted these any of these parts then I am amazed !

To conjoin two ball base parts as in RAM-B-231Z and RAM-B-238 you do need the arm. I refer you to my earlier post which detailed all these sub parts including the shim that you've kindly selected plus the arm as they are a mount kit, eg, RAM-B-149Z or RAM-B-149ZA ... furthermore your reason for not using the arm clearly demonstrates your lack of product knowledge, its use and application.

This is a case of a bit of cut and paste knowledge is dangerous to the uninformed :spitfire

RAM-man, I am looking at using the RAM-B 149z along with the shimming set (RAP-319) that you advised, in order to fit my 2610.
I have both the RAM mount (RPR-182-GA9) & the Garmin mount (145-00661-00) but I dont`t have the bolts for either. I would look at using the RAM mount I think.
If you could confirm that I have chosen the correct items & can these items be purchased from yourself.

My earlier thread is worth another read.

The RAM cradle is RAM-HOL-GA9 (RPR-182-GA9 is a dev part ref, but GA9 is the clue) and uses the diamond base two hole fixing. The screws are supplied with the cradle. RAM-B-149Z or short arm RAM-B-149ZA (and for this year's bike season had two u-bolts, 1" and 1.25" plus the RAP-319 shim included, which is handly for fitting onto the oval rail on the 12GS. You'll find piccy examples in the forum with other devices. I also say add a rubber wrap around the oval rail as well when fitting, then get the cast u-bolt bracket (has inverted V) to line up on widest part, so ball post is facing you.

The Garmin cradle is usually 010-10495-00 (10495- 01 or 10495-02) as its offered cradle with power lead or cradle only and power lead only, hence different last digit in the part number. The Garmin cradle (uses a Torx key to secure) and has a four hole fix pattern, so RAM-B-202 or as a mount, I say look at RAM-B-149Z-G1 which was for the earlier SPIII and has a screw pack which I've used instead of the longer bolts in the Garmin box, as when you remove the power lead you save the skin on yer knuckles. The RAM-B-149Z-G1 also has 1", 1.25" u-bolts and RAP-319 shim in the poly bag kit.

The downside is I cannot take yer money so www.gpsw.co.uk or www.buybits.com for parts.
