Anyone know where Garmin UK are based (address/tel no.)?
I'm looking for another power lead for the 2610 to wire onto the bike.
I've tried a search here and on the web but to no avail. I'm sure I saw a comment on here from someone saying they were just down the road from them but I can't remember who or where 'They' were.

Cheers for any help.

ps
Do you think Maplins do spare leads?

Cheers

Garmin shall pass you onto an approved reseller who stock these parts.

The 2610 power lead is 010-10495-02 (approx £24)

Thanks lads

Checked the adventure motorcycling website and found a power lead here http://www.adventure-motorcycling.co.uk/products/?product=169
BUT what's the audio part for. I have an autocom on the bike with an audio lead to plug into the unit so what would I do with the audio part on this power lead? Can I leave in situ or does it have to be connectedin some way. Remember you are dealing with an electrical numpty here.
Cheers for any guidance.

The audio part is where you plug the autocom unit into the 2610. Just checked over mine to make sure I'm not making a stupid mistake, but the only inputs I can see are the power/audio/dead reckoning socket, the external antenna, the USB and the CF socket.

Got the Garmin power lead from Adventure Motorcycling.

Question:- The label on the red wire with the fuse says 'Red:DC input' This I assume goes to the battery?
The black wire lablel says 'Ground'. Does this wire then go to the other battery terminal or is it attached to something else for grounding?

Cheers for any help/assistance. Remember I did say I was an electrical numpty.

+ve

To answer your question, we all can't be good at everything, but I make a good go of it:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Red goes to +ve side of Battery

Black goes to the -ve side of the Battery,

this means you have power all the time, regardless of the ignition.

Make sure you have the fuse in the RED cable to protect the 2610.

As far as the audio connection, you can connect this to either a set of head phones or via the Autocom, but you need an interface for it to work.

Can't remeber the part number, but the part is a 2 way split so you can use a phone and the GPS on the autocom, about £25 from Autocom, phone them and they are very helpful as are Garmin.

When running upto bars, remember to leave cable slack enough for opposite lock etc, and easy connection to the 2610.

If using the Garmin Bracket, do the lock screw up every time to keep it in place, or buy a Touratech/Ram bracket.

Best of luck.

Sorry but didn't mean to put a smiley in there. I think it's because a colon was followed by a capital D

The label says Red DC

Thanks a lot Gary

I thought this might be the way BUT I needed to make sure as I didn't want to fry the new 2610. I was a little confused when it said the black wire went to 'ground'.

I had the Autocom cable for the GPS installed when I went up there to have the Pro-7 unit fitted. I just have to plug it into the unit and wait for the verbal instructions.

Thanks again

sorry to butt in, but I'm a bigger nonse than all of you and I just received the power lead this morning too.

I don't get how the audio connects to the Autocom. My cable has a female jackplug type input at the front end (by the unit connector) yet my Autocom is in the tail trunk of my bike. So, is there another lead available which hopefully is as long as the Garmin one, to conect it all up?

Told you I was clueless... best wishes

Hi WWFC

You do need an extra lead from the Autocom unit to then plug into the audio socket on the power lead (if you want voice prompts). I had mine fitted when I had Autocom fit the unit on the bike. I think the part is about £18 for a 2610 but check here for the part number and price or best give Autocom a ring. They are VERY helpful.

Glad I've been able to help someone else as I keep getting loads of advice here (some of it quite positive :D )

Cheers

thanks for that, I'll give them a ring,

do you find that having to plug in the audio, at the wrong end as it were, it's all a bit untidy? Or is it just me?

Cheers.....
