Garmin 2720

I've recently bought a second hand 2720 to replace my 2610.

Very pleased

However I was expecting the remote I had from the 2610 would work with it (the 2720 was a bike only kit so no remote). But it doesn't.

Should the 2610 remote work with a 2720?

I have a few spare Garmin remotes if you know exactly which one you need...

Well I've got one like this from my 2610:

and it doesn't work.
So either its a problem with the GPS unit itself or its not the right remote. ( I assume garmin didn't produce a separate unit for motorbike bundles without functioning IR remote port)

The 2720 ships with this

so I think I need one like that

I found some information about how to enable/disable the remote control function on the 2610, but this seems not apply to later models. So maybe you do need a 2720-compatible remote.

In the unlikely event that somebody with the same issue find this thread again...

I can confirm having bought a 2nd hand 2720 remote on ebay (for 99p ), that the 2720 remote DOES work with a 2720, whereas the 2610 remote does NOT.
