Hi

I recently bought a 60csx, with the 2GB Europe Navigator SD card.

It all works well, however the maps in Mapsource are not as detailed and cannot recieve maps from the device stating that it needs the City Navigator software.

Does this have to be bought seperately?

i don't think you can upload maps from the SD card to a PC. for that reason, buying mapping on DVD is my preferred option.

Can’t the supplier of the GPS help with the mapping? Cookie is right, you really need the mapping DVD and an unlockcode

As an existing client why not ask them to send you the DVD?

Plus then you should be able to unlock as you have already got it on your unit. But I suppose that would require a call to Garmin.

my understanding is you need

Mapsource
City Navigator NT or MetroGuide Europe installed on your PC

then you can happily upload download maps to your content, but if you only have them on a SD in the GPS then it can't down load to your PC to give you a copy, as I beleive the copt on the SD is compressed somehow and the PC version is uncompressed, Mapsource can work taking uncompressed to compressed, but not the other way unless the uncompressed version is already on the PC.

I think I confused myself there ;)

You have two ways of geting the maps

1) on a memory card - alows the maps to be used in any GPS that takes the card. Dose not alow teh use of teh maps on a PC.

2) on a disk (CD or DVD). Alows the use on any PC. Alows teh maps to be uploaded to one GPS.

You bought option 1. You are stuck with it .. unless you can sell it to someone else.

I prefer option 2...
