anyone use a garmin emap,are they any good? can u load roads and rec anto them? thinkin of buying delux package cheap on ebay

They don't autoroute.
Then screen is good, better than the etrex series, but you lose the waterproofing rating goes down one.
Fwiw, I've had mine in torriential rain for 4 hours, no problems at all, you can also get a cover for them which makes them as waterproof as the extrexes.
Yes you can load r&r on them, but you wouldn't, you'd load Metroguide, as it's much more detailed, and you can autoroute it on the PC.

I've used one for a couple of years now.
For:
Cheap, reasonable screen, slim, not too heavy on batteries, takes cartridges and MetroGuide, inexpensive RAM mount, can attach external antenna (if using in a car or boat)
Against:
Not waterproof, no autorouting, poor backlight, needs special power lead (as it only accepts 3v supply), smaller screen than 176
Overall, it's a good low-cost solution. Pay more and get the 176C, pay lots more, get the SP III. Pays your money and takes your choice.

I got one off ebay and I'm happy with it.
Pros
Small size / big screen
Takes datacards
Easy to use (no unnecessary functions/options)
You can get them cheap off ebay (unlike etrex, V and SPIII)
Cons
Water resistant, but not completely waterproof (submersible???)
Autorouting only via PC
3V is tricky to hard wire to the bike. (I use a RAM mount and a couple of pairs of rechargeable AA batteries)
Make sure you're getting the atlantic/european basemap (although it is crap) and at least a 16MB datacard and of course
the Mapsource software.
