Check eBay item 7586554390
That's a Compact Flash card which can be bought anywhere and have completely different pricing.
The discussion was regarding Garmin's own memory modules found in some units; 276/376 to just name two.

Thanks for your help guys.

I will be in North America for a good 12 months, I have a Garmin Navigator II which has come with the European Mapping installed, now I want to install the US/Canada Maps on it but Garmin are telling me that I have to buy the stand alone product, before I bought the device Garmin told me it was simple process, but now after some calls and emails they have realised that it will not work.

I am sure lots of other people have experienced this problem before as the Navigator is the standard GPS for all BMW Bikes!

The 512 MB card work only with 276/376. Not with SP3! Garmin part number is 010-10226-05.

Do not mix it up with the standard CF cards for SP2610.

I'm not even sure what GPS Breezy have...
He said "Garmin Navigator II". My guess is that he means a BMW Motorad Navigator II but I'm not sure. :nenau

This thread could go on forever with more or less competent people guessing but without Breezy clearing things out it will remain a mess that isn't of much help to anybody.
I agree. There is no Garmin Navigator II that I am aware of. Please clarify. Is it a BMW Motorrad Navigator II ?

Yes it is, but that is built & produced by Garmin, all the software you get with it is also run the same as Garmin, the software is called MapSource

Strange, the compass rose screen wasn't available on the 2610 I had?

OK. Good. Then it is almost identical with Garmin 2610 and all the maps will fit. In principle you can buy and install any Mapsource product from Garmin. :type

I agree & that is why I have tried to by the US Mapping for that model and install it on my mapsource, but it is now telling me that it is not possible and I have to buy the complete software and run it separately.

The point of my query was has anyone else experienced this difficulty and if anyone has found a way around it?

I am happy to pay whatever to get it right, but the difference is $300 so it is always worth while asking the question!

Thanks for your help guys and sorry if we have danced around the point a little!

If you by stand alone product mean CityNavigator America or CitySelect America they are correct. You need to buy the maps to use them. Look around to find the best price.

When you install the maps you bought you need to register the maps for use with your units serial number to prevent everybody from copying maps. The American map will be installed under your current MapSource installation. You will then be able to select maps from either or both the European and American maps for download to the unit.

So in short, no you won't be able to steal the maps

That's cool, I have no intension of steeling any maps, just want the US Mapping on my current Mapsource which you have answered.

Thanks once again.
