 Hi all,

Just got a new street 3 but PC will not see the 128 mg data card in the reader. I have no other card to test the reader with but thought worth the question.

Mapsource 6.8.0
Card 128 meg as new
select the maps to upload.
Select usb data card programmer
tick maps ( as waypoints I understand are only vai direct connection to the GPS )
select send
then mapsource error... the card cannot be read, try re-writing it.

not called garmin yet.
anyone got any ideas?
Any help would be great as garmin is the next step.

As above the unit is brand new. Only had it running on battery power in office? hope this dosent bode bad...

What Mollers said.

Not daft at all, it's an excellent suggestion, and the first step to take when troubleshooting.

The second troubleshooting step would be to put the little memory card in the GPSR (not the USB programmer), hook the GPSR up to the computer with the serial cable, and then try to send ONE map segment (pick a small one) to the data card via the serial cable. This will allow you to determine if the problem is with the data card, or has something to do with the USB programmer.

If you can successfully send a single map segment to the data card via the serial connection, then there is no problem with the data card. The problem will either be with the USB programmer itself, with the driver on your computer for the USB programmer, or it might be as simple as not pressing the correct button when using MapSource.

Yes it can. Please not only update to the latest version of MapSource - you should also download & update the latest version of the USB driver from Garmin.

Super all, its sorted

Thanks all for the tips. Was a combo of new verson and the newest drivers.
Uploaded maps, even managed to get it on the bike and working.

Again

Many thanks

Casey

Great to hear that the GPSR is working, glad to hear that the forum worked too (to find a solution to your problem).

You now owe Mollers a 'cold one'. :D (er... maybe served not so cold in the UK - not sure about that...
