I like Garmin, and their support is usually very good, but it is rather reactive.
They know the size of the internal memory on the 660 is woefully inadequate, and the latest map versions are actually larger than the available storage space!
Anyhow, there is a working solution (I have implemented it) here .
I know there shouldn't need to be a painful alternative, but having some software/product development knowledge, I do have some sympathies.
That said, I am on my fifth replacement 660. This current one may not count, as I threw the fourth one at the fireplace and smashed to smithereens as it wouldn't load the maps
. The folk at Garmin kindly gave me a brand spanker for their maximum repair fee of £135. I'm not proud.
