Garmin's latest failure

I like Garmin, and their support is usually very good, but it is rather reactive.

They know the size of the internal memory on the 660 is woefully inadequate, and the latest map versions are actually larger than the available storage space!

Anyhow, there is a working solution (I have implemented it) here .

I know there shouldn't need to be a painful alternative, but having some software/product development knowledge, I do have some sympathies.

That said, I am on my fifth replacement 660. This current one may not count, as I threw the fourth one at the fireplace and smashed to smithereens as it wouldn't load the maps :). The folk at Garmin kindly gave me a brand spanker for their maximum repair fee of £135. I'm not proud.

Oh, yes, I am...:aidan

Have a play and see what happens :thumb2

That's how your mind sees it maybe :nenau

But then we disagree about so many things .....

Sent from my iMac using my fingers

i thought it was all going too well. a few days ago i'd imported all routes for the upcoming dolomites extravaganza onto the SD card in my zumo. checked they were all there, imported and previewed the first one, then left it until today.

today i discovered i'd like to add another route, so downloaded that to the card. when i checked it, it was there, but the other dolomites routes weren't anymore, though older ones were :blast

i've re-imported them now, but it hardly fills one with confidence. can anyone suggest why that might have happened?

It has happened the same to me.
If I export several routes from mapsource (sorry Windows here :)) it tells me everything is fine but overwrites the previous route with the last one sent, if you know what I mean, generating only one gpx file for the last route, which is not by the way called as the route is suppose to.
I have managed to do it in a different way, old school, copy and paste the gpx files from the routes into the memory card on the unit.
So far it works but who knows for how long?
