The problem with the key on a lanyard, is having to undo your jacket to do the box. Or mount/remove your satnav.

I feed the key into the zipped pocket inside the first zip of my rukka, so only a drop of about 6 inches, Nav stays on the bike until end of the journey, so the jacket and key comes off then.... works for me...:aidan:thumby::beerjug:

I've got it, buy it.

The only downsides I can think is...

1) You must press the Off button to imobilize the bike. Using the red engine kill switch will still allow the engine to be turned back on. Even if they key is out of range.

2) Losing your key in your pockets. Its in there somewhere, but where.

3) Don't store your key anywhere near your bike, and if someone is trying to steal it, dont run over to them with your key in pocket. You'd be helping them.
 
Shhhhh. Have you heard? GSA ali panniers arrive at the dealers with keys already supplied.

When the dealers fit them to the customers new bike, they get recoded and the old keys are surplus.

Consequently, a certain dealer in Herts might just happen to have a large box containing hundreds of unused keys which they dont ever use.

That certain dealer might just let you take your top box into the shop and, over a (free) coffee, try each key innthe box until you find one that fits.

Then they let me have it FOC.

(It only took about 30 keys before I found one to fit the panniers on my new keyless Triple Black GSA)

but dont tell anyone else or they'll all be doing it.

Not the biggest fan of the keyless ride. Yeah, its easy to start without keys. BUT you only get one key (really BMW?) replacements cost $350. Also if it goes wrong, you are in a world of shit.
Shift assist is nice, but lurchy. It can stand a wheelie if you shift at redline from 1-2. I can rev match better, but I think my 0-120MPH times are faster with it for sure.
 
I don't use my quickshift across the 1-n-2 gap in either direction. I suspect most others don't either - isn't there some advice in the manual on that anyway?

I really is poor practice to redline in first - the revs build far too quickly to be good for most engines. Far better to short shift into second before giving it the beans.
 
I'm thinking of buying a new GSA TE spec. I'm interested in the experiences of those that have the gear shift pro and keyless ignition options.

And yet, as usual, cue the people replying that don't even have either.:blast

I have both, and would definitely order again. :thumb
 
Chap with the rusty bike appears to though, eh? On one wheel too it seems. Will it soon be a case of "For sale - One careful owner"?

you seem to have a different perspective to me. Neither of those points are really relevant to my riding style on tour with a GSA - Gixer maybe......
