Givi Airflow Screen review

Speed

LOL, thanks for the advice :D

Ordered me one today from a company through Ebay
in Italy. Cost: 119 GBP delivered and well to my doorstep;
can't wait until i can mount it!

Order placed with Cieran on Tuesday afternoon, arrived at 5pm this afternoon. Fitted by 7pm (removing the Tobinators) and test rode for about an hour up and down the M5.

Wow, what a difference. Only down side is that is that I can now hear how shite the engine sounds!

I dont want to hijack.... Are any of you guys using Tobs with the AF330? Imjust curious.....

Cheers

Pete

Just turn your music up......

I know, you can now hear every moan and groan the BM makes........... Just turn your mp3 player up .....

ps

Glad you are pleased with it.

We had a run around the Lkes on Sunday in temperatures up to 28 degress and discovered tht the screen can be too effective as there was no air entering the vents in our helmets :eek

Adjusting the upper part of the screen to its lowest setting (2 seconds) restored some ventilation and then returing it to its mid-position for the blast home provided the protection and noise reduction we desired, so overall it's an excellent product :thumb2

...oh, and I should add that with the screen back up to its mid position there was no significant noise or windblast for either SWMBO or myself when heading down the M6 at speed - she was very impressed - so it's great for fatigue free long distance high speed cruising :)

It is also a good fly catcher......

I agree, no wind and two days around Wales this last weekend , I could have done with a bit of a breeze. Forgot about adjusting it..... It is a good fly catcher though. Nothing at all on my visor. Screen is still an excellent bit of kit - Well done Givi

Got my screen today through the excellent fast services of Omnia racing in Napoli in Italy on Ebay and got it installed without any problem at all in combination with the tobinators.

Made a quick first ride on the highway with the screen in the most upward position and the upper screen in mid-position: you feel a huge difference immediately! The buffeting is not gone completely but i'm assured that the many possible variations (screen/tobinators) will make the best out of it.

I only hope that the screen won't touch the handprotectors when the
steering is totally left or right. Right now, with the screen most upward, it's not touching, but only barely....

Gonna do some more testing the next week(s) and will also put the deflectors on for maximum comfort.

Just had a week testing the screen and it's superb, does everything you want it to and so easy to adjust. At 5' 11" tall I set the lower screen a couple of notches off bottom and have the top section about half way and it's perfect. Adjustment of the top section easily allows air flow when you're hot or complete protection when it's not. Highly recommended.

Just fitted one of these to my '09 GSA - what a difference:drool just ordered the BM sat nav mount and i'm off to the German MotoGp in July :jager

I have my lower screen laid as low as it will go, then laid it down a bit more w the Tobs. The handlebars with the hand protectors on still clear the edges of the screen by about 10mm on full lock. You should be fine with the lower screen on mid setting.

How did you setup your Tobs, and how did you find them?

Cheers

Hey Pete,

I fitted the winglets and rode 450km. this weekend. I had some
mixed feelings but it's not really fair i guess because there was
horrendous turbulence in the air with a lot of rain and
windstrokes. Right now i have the lower screen in middle position
on the BMW setting, the tobs on lowest position and the upper
screen in the middle.

I will go experimenting with the position you are using now: lower
screen in lowest BMW setting, even lower than by using the tobs
and than try to find the best position for the upper screen by
stopping many times on the highway (releasing it in full drive seems
like a stupid idea :augie ). I'm convinced that the results this
weekend are not really comparable to a "normal" drive so i keep
my hopes up it will be good eventually. It's normal that you have
to look for the best position; i had the same with my previous bike,
a Suzuki V-Strom DL1000.

One odd thing: the screen is not symmetrical here; the space between
the end of the screen and the winglets is not the same at both sides....

How'd you get on with your trials? I think the foul weather may have had something to do with the rough ride you had on the weekend..... You are about the same height as I am so I am sure you will find something that will work for you.

I still have the same settings on my AF, just slide the top up and down depending on what I am doing.

Let us know how you get on

Cheers

Cieran, same price for Northern Ireland/UK?????

Yes and No, i can do you the screen at £127.49 but the post to northern ireland :aidan is a bit steep for us to cover fedex class it as international, i could do it for £137.49 delivered.

One thing to mention, I seem to have managed to sell out the entire UK stock of these screens!! Givi is waiting on a fresh delivery that should be due in the next week or so. so i havnt got one on the shelf for immediate despatch at the moment. But fingers cross for next week.

Thanks again guys

Dont forget if you need any other bits just give me a call 01782 250177

Thanks

Cieran

Givi A330 arrives from DK last week - great service, well within the 10 days promised for restocking. Thanks Cieran.
It's now fitted and has made a difference to the wind in my face but I am finding buffeting on the top & back of my helmet at 60+mph. I'm 5'11" and use a standard Sargent seat on the standard setting. I've tried most screen settings with little difference, reading through the thread I think I need to take the following action: Get & fit tobinators to give more adjustment (i.e. lay the screen back a bit further), fit winglets. If that fails ... start again! So, to those of you who have solved the problem - does this sound the right course of action?

Riding with the Givi Screen

I have just done a weekend in France, with my visor up most of the time, just watchingthe world go by. No bufferting at all. I do notice when I have my Hi Vis vest on the top of the shoulders flutter in the wind, but other than that nothing. I am 5'11'' and have the following set up.
Givi screen no extras - lowest setting, i.e. learning as far back as it can go. The top adjusting screen is set at 30mm. That is measuring from the top lip of the bottom screen to the top of the plastic slider - adjustable screen.
The only other thing I have is Winglets, care of Nippy Normans.
All this must work is I have noticed that it attracts a lot of flies. I hardly get any these days,
Good luck.

ps

If you are local to North Staffordshire, you could always try my GS

Just back from a week touring around Scotland with the screen fitted. Managed most of the week with the visor open even at high motorway speeds and also when raining. I too have a screen plastered with all kinds of wildlife but have a relatively bug-free crash helmet.

.......the decision to ride from Aviemoore back to Bristol in a single day wasn't the smartest of decisions though!
