But if one wanted to go back to the 1250, could they? Around here 1250s are very scarce it seems. Only one at the shop, and it is 22000 ish US, with the factory panniers and only like 800 miles. The 26 year models are around 30000 US. The shop does have a low mile 24 RS which looks pretty nice too. Nothing much on craigslist either even the RT's and what not don't seem to show right now much ...
If you were to try and go back to the 1250 around here you would have almost no selection it seems .... Eventually they will sort out the 1300 from it's bugs. I am glad I picked up the 1250 GS last feb. for 14k US .....

After 20+ years of GS ownership, I’ve given up on them all. Been two years without and not missing them at all.

Himmy 411 now for tooling about, Indian RM for touring. Both cheaper to buy (used), run and service than a BMW.

The 1250 was great - but there's no way would I would want to go back after riding the 1300 for a year.
That doesn't mean the 1250 isn't good. If I still had mine I'd be happy to do anything on it - but the newer model has moved everything on, substantially.

I’ve had a 1150’s, 1250 and currently a 1200LC. The bike I’d go back to would be a late 1200 TC. Sorry it’s off topic but they’ve lost something along the way
I have both a TC and a 2003 1150Gs. I keep looking at the new versions, but I don't think I would get any more enjoyment from them.

Approached a bm dealer today about trading in my 650 miler 1250, gave him the spec and they offered me more than I actually wanted, I said I’d sleep on it, later on they called me twice and said if I don’t want to trade they would buy it off me, I never asked what the cash deal would be, I said I’ll think about it.

VERY happy with my 1250 but love the 1300. I just don't want to have to find another £12K+ to make the change. I think, perhaps I have the motorcycle that will be in my garage when my lifetime of biking comes to an end. Although if we went to Spain or France, as planned, I'd make sure I had room for an additional one. That CB1000GT looks great. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Hand on heart do you really believe the improvements can be described as substantial ?

I love my 1150GS but when the mood is right the 1300GS is a total scream to ride . They are pretty different bikes . Both with individual appeal

More reliable too

Yes absolutely - it's a very different feeling to ride the 1300 and of course that changes the nature of the bike.
With that in mind I can totally understand why some ( possibly many ) GS riders of previous models do not like what's changed.

I had many early fault issues with my 1300 - which was very frustrating and dented brand loyalty hugely.
Because of that, I spent time testing pretty much all of the competition looking to change (inc 1250) and from my perspective I found nothing that could touch the accomplishments of the new GS.
I might say it's boringly brilliant. Engine tick-over sounds crap though.

Love my 1300. 12000 miles and getting better. New tyres, pads and big service yesterday. Can’t wait to get to Europe again this year.

I bet that cost a few quid! Mine is due the same in June just in time for our trip to the Alps and the Dolomites.

I have the service plan. Reckoned I would do 18000 miles over the 3 years. Tyres were £280 for Road6 GT and front and back pads £150. Not bad for a years biking.

Can only comment on the GS not GSA, I consider them to be considerably different..

The 1300gs is streets ahead. Engine feels more eager and has a wider, usable rev range. Handling is sharper. Weight/size, the 1300 ‘feels’ much lighter and more compact and is easier to move around than before. The cylinder's are now inline (well to look at…) so I no longer hit my shin off the (left or right..I cant remember which was further back..) Easier to clean.
Had two 1200, one 1250 and now a second 1300 (as the first one was stolen).

Did you have it all done at a BM dealer ?
