Got me one :-)

Hi dibdob how are the army specials performing so far?

OK so far, I haven't used them off road properly yet on the X Challenge but I'm going out with Adventure tours around the cotswold on the 28th so we will see :thumb

I used them on my old KTM 620 LSE and they were fine ;)

Dib,
what screen do you have on your bike?
You bike is similar to mine LOL

Like any good 'shedaholic' I couldn't help but have a quick virtual look around your shed from an earlier post ... is that some kind of simple manual tyre bead breaker on a frame that's in one of the photo's. If so can you give me a few details as I've been looking for something to make home tyre changes without breaking the bank,

cheers

Andy

I sent an Email to Hagon shocks today and this was the reply i receaved :thumb2

Hello Mark and thank you for your enquiry,
We can supply a replacement for the G650X , please confirm you have a frame prefix of WB1016. See below for details.
The Hagon monoshock for your bike is £275.00 including vat and free UK delivery except Northern Ireland, which incurs a £15.00 surcharge.

Our Hagon shock has adjustment for pre load as well as compression and rebound damping linked on a single adjuster.
It comes complete with all tools for adjustment and fitting instructions.
The Hagon shock is guaranteed for 2 years and is fully rebuildable.

We can also supply custom built Hagon monoshocks including seat lowering options, you can specify reductions in your seat height in 10mm increments from standard to a maximum of 50mm.
Please state proportion of solo/pillion/luggage use and weights of rider(s) when ordering.
If you choose the bigger reductions you may need to modify your side stand as the bike will not lean sufficiently for stable parking it will also be more difficult to lift the bike onto it’s centre stand.
We can also custom build for heavy rider & pillion, Light solo only, harder and softer springs. £325.00 including vat.

Many of our Hagon monoshocks can be supplied with the added convenience of our Hagon hydraulic preload adjuster at a cost of an additional £125.00 including vat. This is a great benefit if you are touring.

We can also supply Hagon fork springs for your bike at £67.50 including oil and fitting instructions. Our progressive spring kits are designed to retain a comfortable ride at the top of the fork travel while offering superior control under hard braking.

We accept all major credit/ debit cards.

How are you finding the Hagon unit?

It seams fine to me but I'm not the most experienced rider :augie, If anything i would say its a bit soft but i like soft after riding the KTM LC4 last year, I think this could be sorted by adjusting the preload and damping, By the way I'm not the lightest rider out there at 17+ stone :thumb

I had a great day out today going round the Cotswolds with the Adventure tours chaps, One section was a very muddy climb and the bike went up like it was a 4x4 land rover, I was really impressed ;)

I've not done much over the past weeks just a few little bits to improve things although i did take it into North Oxford BMW to have it serviced to make sure everything was as it should be.

I'm using the 650 for commuting to work at the moment so i have put the standard exhaust back on because i leave home at 5am and don't want to upset the neighbours to much, On the race pipe i have fitted an old heat shield from the down pipe fitted as standard to these bike,s.

The sump guard is looking good, I had taped the holes up to stop the road salt getting through to the engine but the weather seems to be getting better now :bounce1

The case saver is a very nice piece which looks good and serves a purpose, I also fitted a set of foot peg protectors which i had sent over from the USA.

I've put a fender bag on the front mudguard with a tube and some tyre levers in which improves the look at the front. The tape on the top of the light shield is the stop the light reflecting off the inside of the shied into my eyes . I also drilled some big holes in the mudguard so the air can get to the radiator then put some of the wire mesh over the holes to stop any stones hitting it.

I didn't like the first tail tidy so i made another one, This time using aluminium instead of steel much lighter and less obtrusive, You must make sure you put a good angle on the number plate or you end up with all the crap going up your back, I even had it going up into the back of my helmet :(, I also didn't like the indicators that i had fitted so i put the originals back on.

I'm getting a bit peed off with the rear mud guard  I'm beginning to think BMW put something on there to stop the paint from sticking ,Smooth as a baby bum under that paint :nenau

And finally i have fitted a small handle par pad i had in my spares box, Off a KTM i think.

I would like to say sorry to Cole who never got his case saver due to the Royal mail :( I have now given him a full refund :thumb

I've not long sold my XC after 2yrs and 3000miles, but I never had any issue with the rear plastics loosing the paint like you have. Any marks mine had were the results of an unintended meeting with the ground or a tree :augie

Paint has peeled off the rear side panels too. BMW dealer refused to repair under warranty

So you have replaced the front guard with a single piece aftermarket unit dibbo69.
The Touratech; Acerbis, techniks is a bit pricey in my neck of the woods, which one are you using there?

I bought it of Ebay £15 including post but you will need to make a bracket.

Fantastic work dibdob :thumb2

.... just wish it didnt make me feel so feckin useless when it comes to fettling and farkling as the only spanner in my garage is me :blast

Just out of interest though .. why have it serviced at a main dealer when you are very accomplished with the old wrenches or was it more for the dealer 'check over' than service??

Keep it coming :type .. BMW R&D/Design could get a few tips if they read this :augie
