Does anyone know of anywhere I can get my Montana refurbished? It's started playing up and won't let me select things on the screen. I've tried the screen set up feature where you press dots moving around but this hasn't done the trick. Don't really want to fork out for a new one if I can get this one seen to. Cheers

Steady, this is the face of confident, self-reliant Britain we are looking at.

I have had a refurb Garmin Montana twice (the refurb'd replaced under warranty). IIRC use the garmin website to request service, they will send you an RMA number. Return your device (tip, take the battery and memory cards out - you will get a new battery but you won't get any memory cards). A new/refurbed device will turn up in a few days along with codes so any device specific maps will unlock to it - follow their instructions the letter else it will all go tits up - DAMHIK.

There's any number of small refurbishment outfits available. I bought a refurbed 550 from ebay earlier in the year and all is fine with it. The point is the seller will also refurb your unit rather than having to buy a refurbed one

An update with some excellent service from Garmin...

As my nav is out of warranty I tried the people suggested above but they didn't return my call or email so I thought I'd give Garmin a try.

Contacted them via email and they suggested a software update and if that didn't do the trick then a factory reset. Neither worked and the unit was then stuck in the screen calibration mode. Again contacted Garmin (thru their website) to arrange sending it back for repair and got a message back that although it was out of warranty they'd replace it with a refurbished unit. Result. They ask you to return the faulty one and in 10 -14 working days you'll get the refurb'd one sent back.

Posted off on Monday and the replacment arrived today indistinguishable from new. Very happy and impressed they stand by their product even when out of warranty :clap
