Greek islands and an old XT600

Bike parked by the steps and that is a pub on the corner so location good as well
At this time of year accommodation is good value, £45 is probably the average I’ve been paying. The more rural then the cheaper and more basic obviously. Most rooms have a basic kitchen set up - fridge, two ring stove, kettle or coffee machine and some basic utensils. Works for me.

Never felt more chilled reading a Ride Report. Thanks for doing it Northern jock

Sounds idyllic

Half makes me want to buy an old XL600R/Dominator & ship it to Greece

A friend has a house in Cyprus which he visits 4-5 times a year (there now …straight after our trip to SSDT) and does a lot of trail riding there on a DRZ and also has an older 600 Transalp to potter about the villages with his wife on pillion

They go to the beach, have a swim and then stop at a taverna for lunch/supper & his pics are equally alluring
I can recommend it. How do you get the other half of persuasion?
And I’ve managed to find a spot to rehydrate and enjoy the view.IMG_0188.jpeg

Would be fun in the Troodos mountains. Driven a lot round there but not on a bike.

Currently looking at used Dominators for sale, so that’s a start

My friend also has a Tenere 700 in UK and we did, whilst in the Highlands, chat about riding them to Cyprus (a week to get there and another to get back and a week to 10 days at his place) and a 3-4 week excursion would be fab

He trail rides there all the time on his Cypriot DRZ

A pic from last month with 2-3 friends who also have places out there & have trail bikes/road bikes & cars out there

He said in the Troodos they are no restrictions if you are sensible and respectful

Simple and uncomplicated, helps to reset.

Sounds like Sitges. A place ruined by the Gay brigade.
It is exactly that. Mykonos was a great island not too many years ago. Loads of history and a very interesting island to explore.
I think Lesbos has suffered a similar fate due to the rug munchers taking over. Another real shame.

You'll go a long way before you find a more relaxed and easy going fella than Alastair @Tinytim He's just an easy going kind of guy who enjoys a good bite of grub and a decent wee dram, like most of us here. :thumb2

You already have the perfect bike for this type of trip..XR400.
Do as per Alastair, have the bike trucked out, spend the maximum time out there doing the thing that makes you happy ( probably not the open air chaps part ), and miss out the schlep there and back

Good idea Mike
XR400 is pretty good if geared correctly for the roads
We just toyed with riding out Teneres across Europe

Yesterday I rode along a variety of mad wee roads, including the one I posted a photo of the map of. They were quiet and went through great mountainous countryside, few people around.
It was hard to take photos that showed the roads at their best but I got a few.
Then to the port and a ferry to Rafina.IMG_0204.jpegIMG_0205.jpegIMG_0207.jpegIMG_0208.jpegIMG_0209.jpegIMG_0211.jpegIMG_0217.jpegIMG_0218.jpegIMG_0219.jpeg

Andros surprised me, I was expecting it to be a bit package holiday type place but it wasn’t.
The area near the port wasn’t perfect but it was handy for a late ferry and I got a greasy pizza which did the job, all I could find.
Next day I meandered down to Ormos in the south east, really nice, laid back town. That was Sunday and Greeks, traditionally, have a big Sunday lunch so tavernas are all full then closed or empty at night. I got fed and watered though.
I’d go back to Andros for the roads and the smaller places.
On the way north I passed an old lad at the side of the road beside his old Yamaha, 200cc he said, I thought maybe 250.
He wasn’t broken down, just waiting for something but was delighted I’d bothered to stop. And he liked my bike.
Night in Rafina and now on a ferry to Evia, see where I end up, no real plan except head north.
