foot draggiung brakes slightly boiled the fluid which may have water in it needs changing fits the bill...

thanks for that might put some hel lines on while im at it

It's not often the pedal will hit the stop and then be OK again...

The main one is something like a bulge in the line or a sudden weakening in the liner. One other thing is something momentarily forcing the pads open but that is obviously rare mid ride.

If you check the lines you might find a weakeness in the rubber pipe so the Hels are a very good option. The "sticky" thread on brake line failure on ABS front brake top lines might make interesting reading. The BMW lines only last for so long and weaken greatly at points where they are bent or rotated repeatedly.

Stick the bike on the centre stand and work the brake lever while feeling for weak spots or bulges in the brake line with your other hand. If you find one, then don't trust the line any more!

Last thing... you haven't recently changed the fluid have you? Rogue bit of air. Unlikely but all info helps.

if

it happens again check the temperature of the rear disc by placing the back of your hand CLOSE to it do not immediately touch it may be HOT. If it is very hot and you have not been constantly on the brakes it could be you are inadvertantly dragging your foot on the brake or the caliper is binding. This will have the same effect, heating up the disc which in turn heats up the brake fluid causing brake fade. When it cools down a bit the brake seems okay. Is the disc showing any signs of excessive heat? i.e. blueing or discolouration
