hi all went out on my GS yesterday did 150 miles, stopped for a coffee went to start the bike to leave and it woudnt start , had to be recovered.
Bike has just been serviced at 12000 miles.Engine spinning well but no attempt to start. All proceedures followed to the letter. Bike has not yet been returned to BMW, but i am curiouse to know if anyone has had the same experience, thanks

The DM pump controller on my bike died recently. December '04 bike just turned 12K miles. I'd just put the bike back on the road after a 7 month lay up. I'd done a couple of hundred miles at most before I rode it into the yard of the local Suzuki dealer. I didn't ride out again though. £50 for a new controller later and I was back on the road. I'm still waiting to see if BMW UK will refund the £50.

I don't know much about 1200s but if you do a search on 'fuel pump senders' or controllers, or 'key fob' you may find the solution there:thumb

If it is the fuel pump controller relay that has failed (it shorts out due to ingress of water) then the bike will run for a few seconds and then die. Mine did this on a dealers forecort!
